Pay & Benefits

The City of Lakewood pays a salary competitive with other Colorado police departments,
with eligibility for salary increases occurring regularly, based on successful job performance.

Police Agent (Officer) Annual Salaries:

  • Hire Date as Recruit: $61,484.80
  • Entry into Field Training: $65,624.00
  • Graduation from Field Training: $70,033.60
  • Two Years from Date of Hire: $74,734.40
  • Three Years from Date of Hire (Lateral & Veteran starting salary*): $79,809.60
  • Four Years from Date of Hire: $85,134.40
  • Five Years from Date of Hire: $91,665.60

All increases are contingent upon successful job performance and available budget dollars.
*Additional qualifications must be met for Lateral & Veteran starting salary.

  • Money Purchase Retirement Plan (City contribution of 11.2% in 2019 and increasing .6%
    each year. After 2022, City contribution will be 13%, with a 5-year graduated vesting)
